Library Movie

Library Movie

Movie Time. Showing Dark Waters on Thursday, April 23 at 1 pm at the Main Library. Directed by Todd Haynes and starring Mark Ruffalo, the film dramatizes the real-life case of attorney Robert Bilott and his legal battle against chemical giant DuPont, who contaminated a West Virginia town with unregulated chemicals. The story is based on the 2016 New York Times Magazine article "The Lawyer Who Became DuPont's Worst Nightmare." Haynes gives viewers a visceral sense of what a long, tedious, and spiritually draining fight for justice can look like — making it far more than a typical courtroom thriller. Critics praised the film for powerfully relaying a real-life tale of corporate malfeasance, honoring the victims while laying blame squarely where it belongs. It's the kind of movie that stays with you long after the credits roll.
